Affinity Consulting loves to help improve the lives of our customers. We thought you might enjoy getting to know about the lives of some of our team members who help make that happen. Each month we will feature another member of the Affinity Team. Get to know us!
Meet Jose Selpulveda, Process Management Consultant for the Default Services Team. Jose joined Affinity in 2011 after being a part of the annual CaseAware® Bootcamp event provided by the Default Services team. He provided expert presentations on key industry topics when Affinity offered him the chance to join the Affinity Team. “I couldn’t really say no to the opportunity,” says Jose.
“I love my job because I started at the bottom working as a grunt in a large firm copy room then made my way through being a paralegal in many different departments. I hated knowing I was doing something inefficiently and began to tear apart the process, attempting to change things internally. When I am able to fix problems and involve technology or implement new ways of doing things, it puts a smile on my face, “ adds Jose. “I like making people happy, making their jobs easier, more efficient and knowing I was there at some point doing this person’s job using carbon paper or a typewriter. Seeing the evolution gives me a huge sense of satisfaction knowing that I helped this firm evolve.”
Outside of the office, Jose and his wife enjoy working on their new house which has forced him to become quite the handy man. He also loves spending time with his children playing games with my son (15), watching movies with his eldest daughter (18) or drawing with his youngest daughter (4) – his “Mini-Me” little ball of energy!
Jose’s most memorable Affinity story is all about the worst flight cancellation story ever! It involves a little, tiny airport and a huge, local basketball game. The last plane of the night had a flat tire which cancelled the flight. Unfortunately, the big rivalry game made finding a hotel room impossible, leaving Jose to find himself in an uninhabitable hotel room where he feared being carried away by giant bed bugs – or worse! Be sure to ask Jose for all of the gory details when you speak with him next…..or maybe you’d rather hear the one about the Affinity retreat and the ghost tour instead!
Here is just a bit more about Jose:
Favorite Vacation Spot: Hands down I love going to Puerto Rico! I have lots of family there and many fond memories of visiting the island. I haven’t been in over 4 years but I have the urge to go again very soon and plan a family trip!
Favorite Food: That is a close tie between Chicago style pizza which is a gluttonous pile of meats, cheeses and sauce vs. my grandmother’s Pollo Guisado (Chicken stew) - just the smell of it makes my knees weak and fills my soul with great memories and happiness.
Favorite Music: I have always listened to a little bit of everything from rock, punk, metal, jazz and Hip Hop, but if I had to choose I would pick Hip Hop . Not what you hear on the radio, but real Hip Hop with a positive message and soul. Music you can relate too and makes you feel good. If anyone feels adventurous in giving “rap” a real chance, try listening to a group by the name of “Bop Alloy.” My favorite song is “Still Think Different.”
Hobbies/Interests: In my spare time (if I ever have any) I paint, sketch and tattoo. Yes, I typed that correctly! I give people permanent tattoos. J Some of my work can be seen at http://inkbyjramos.strikingly.com/.
Three words that describe me: I did a survey and these were the responses ….. positive, knowledgeable, helpful.
If I won the lottery, I’d: Pay off my house, buy an RV and tour the country.
