Affinity Consulting Blog

Often we find ourselves working on several different matters for the same client. When your NetDocuments workspaces are defined by both the client and the matter, as many are, it can be more difficult to find a specific document that you are looking for as you try and recall exactly which matter the document was saved to.

To overcome this, while looking at the workspace for a specific matter and client, simply click on the Advanced Search button.

On the Advanced Search screen, the client and matter fields will be already filled in for you. Simply delete the matter reference by using the small grey X on the right of the field and then click the search button.

Your results will return ALL of the documents for the client, across all of the matters. In fact, from this result, you can use the filtering tools on the left to narrow down your results as desired.

If you are working with this client often, you may want to save this search to one of the matters, you will do this from the Search Results Options drop down.

If you save the search, give it a more meaningful name than just the client number criteria. This way you can favorite the search and add it to your home screen.

Now you have one click access to all of the documents for that client as soon as you log in to NetDocuments.
