How to get all three using your law firm blog

A law firm blog is one of the best ways for attorneys to generate leads, demonstrate leadership and gain leverage online by improving your search engine results.

Who doesn’t roll their eyes at the thought of “another meeting?” But, while many of us think that it’s the volume of meetings that impacts our ability to get things done, there’s actually something far more dangerous to your productivity, and that’s the worst meeting you can have: “The meeting after the meeting.”

“Have you considered a firm retreat?”

This is a question we discuss with many of our clients. Understandably, while many lawyers value the benefit of time spent on developing a Firm’s intellectual capital and operational effectiveness in a retreat, in an industry where the commodity is the billable hour, most leaders will decline the chance to plan one for one primary reason: COST.

And while there is no question that a firm retreat requires a financial investment as well as an investment of time that would have otherwise been billable, there are very real reasons to invest the resources in a firm retreat that will result in tangible benefits for your firm long term.

When This Is Appropriate?

We often do not want to page number the first page but want to number second and subsequent. Another relevant example would be a letter in which you want no page numbering on the first page because it will be printed on letterhead, but you would like to add a header on all subsequent pages that looks something like this:

Meet Jose Selpulveda, Process Management Consultant for the Default Services Team. Jose joined Affinity in 2011 after being a part of the annual CaseAware® Bootcamp event provided by the Default Services team. He provided expert presentations on key industry topics when Affinity offered him the chance to join the Affinity Team. “I couldn’t really say no to the opportunity,” says Jose.

You see stories in the news all the time where people and businesses are victims of a hacking attack. Improved security becomes even more important as we all begin using applications and services that allow us to access our data, both business and personal, from anywhere. That not so strong password you are currently using, maybe seems OK when it is something you are just using internally at your home or office. But when those same applications and services can be accessed and used remotely it becomes even more important to have a strong password.

What can you do to better protect yourself when your password is not so secure (or even if it is)? A great way to improve on the singular protection of your password is to turn on a second layer of protection. This is where two-factor authentication comes into play. Don’t let the wording scare you off, it is not that difficult to turn on and use.

At the upcoming ABA TECHSHOW, the conference concludes with 60 tips in 60 minutes – a fun, fast paced panel presentation that includes tips/tricks/gadgets/gizmos and websites to make your tech-life easier and presumably less stressful or complicated.

I thought I’d share a few of the TechTips from past ABA TechShows that I particularly found helpful or useful. To see the latest tips/tricks for ABA TechSHow 2016, I encourage you to register and attend ABA TECHSHOW – a conference that I always consider to be the best of the year.

What is Trustworthy? Is it Reliable? Perhaps when it comes to discussing Trust Accounts, it refers to “ethical” or “unimpeachable”. A trust account is different from other bank accounts? An attorney representing his or her law firm is the trustee for the monies or assets belonging to a client. The attorney is responsible for safeguarding and protecting the client’s monies and/or other assets. The attorney has the power to disburse funds on behalf of the client, based on the Attorney/Client Agreement. Any and all Trust Monies or Assets are not to be comingled with Assets and Monies belonging to the attorney or the Firm. Attorneys have a fiduciary responsibility to know and understand the Rules Governing Trust Accounts in their state.
