PCLaw Announces Windows 7 Compatibility

LexisNexis announced that PCLaw is compatible with the new Windows 7 operating system.   However, before upgrading your PC to Windows 7, we strongly advise consulting with your Affinity Consulting Group partner company for advice on how that upgrade may affect other software or hardware in your office.

Here is the text from the Lexis Nexis announcement:

PCLaw Windows 7 Compatibility

We are pleased to announce PCLaw compatibility with Windows 7.

  • PCLaw has been tested extensively in a Windows 7 32-bit environment and full functionality has been approved by Quality Assurance for the following versions:
    • PCLaw V10 and higher
    • PCLaw V9.31d
    • PCLaw V8.20d
  • In a Windows 7 64-bit environment, PCLaw core functionality has been approved by Quality Assurance. Links for any third-party plug-ins have not been approved at this time. We are working to correct this in the near future for all supported 64-bit operating systems.

  • PCLaw Expense Tip

When you enter/pay an overhead expense in PCLaw, be sure NOT to allocate that expense to a “firm” related matter. Doing so makes PCLaw “think” that you are allocating the expense to a matter for billing and your financial reports will be wrong. Always ensure that matter related expenses are NOT allocated to a matter and, by the same token, never post an overhead expense to your client disbursment clearing account.

    IE8/PCLaw Incompatibility Problem Resolved

n April 3, 2009, we delivered a communication regarding an issue with the release of Microsoft® Internet Explorer® 8.0 (IE8) that resulted in a minor incompatibility with PCLawTM. On June 9, 2009, Microsoft released a security bulletin which we have since tested, and we are pleased to announce that IE8 is now compatible with PCLaw.

For more information regarding security bulletin MS09-019 and to download the component for your operating system, visit: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/MS09-019.mspx

This fix is included in a full Windows Update. We recommend that you perform the full update to address this issue and keep your Windows operating system up-to-date.
