Affinity Consulting Group was founded by a group of legal IT and management consultants with a collective 135 years of legal experience and specializes in strategic technology and management solutions for law firms and legal departments of all sizes. Cindy Melfa

Cindy A. Melfa is the managing partner of Affinity Consulting Group’s Naples, FL office. Prior to joining Affinity, she was the founder and president of Legal-Tech Solutions, Inc. Cindy is a certified law office software consultant with over 24 years’ experience in law firm accounting, financial workflow and management, practice management, and document management. With an educational background in management and marketing, and prior employment as a law firm real estate closer and firm administrator, Cindy consults with law firms throughout the United States and Caribbean on law office software as well as sophisticated practice management issues.

Cindy is a graduate of Florida International University (B.A.), and a certified consultant/trainer, maintaining certifications in such popular law office software products such as PCLaw, and Amicus Attorney, and Actionstep.

Besides actively consulting on law office productivity and management issues, Cindy has served on the LexisNexis Certified Consultants panel, the PCLaw Product Advisory Board, and Amicus Attorney President’s Club, in addition to conducting webinars for LexisNexis.

In her free time, Cindy enjoys travelling, cooking, walking, Jimmy Buffet Parrothead charitable and social activities, and spending time with her family.

Barron Henley

Mr. Henley is one of the founding partners of Affinity Consulting Group, a national legal technology consulting firm which handles all aspects of law practice automation including document assembly, case management, document management, legal accounting software, trial presentation/litigation support, paper reduction/scanning, hardware, networks/servers and security. He is an attorney and has been helping other lawyers with technology since 1990.

He received his B.S./B.A. (marketing and economics) and J.D. from The Ohio State University and is a member of the American, Ohio and Columbus Bar Associations, and the Worthington Estate Planning Council. He is a member of the ABA Law Practice Management Section and is the former Chair of the Ohio State Bar Association Law Office Automation & Technology Committee. Mr. Henley heads Affinity’s document assembly/automation and software training departments; he is a renowned expert on Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat and HotDocs document assembly software; and has authored legal-specific manuals on HotDocs, Adobe Acrobat, and Microsoft Word, Excel & Outlook.

Barron teaches continuing legal education (CLE) classes throughout the U.S. and Canada covering a wide variety of topics related to law practice management, technology and ethics.

Steven Best

Steven J. Best is the managing partner of our Atlanta office. Steve is an attorney as well as a certified law office software consultant. With an educational background in law, accounting and economics, Steve consults with law firms throughout the United States on law office software as well as sophisticated practice management issues.

Steve is a graduate of Rutgers University (B.A.) and Emory University School of Law (J.D.). He is a member of the Florida and Georgia Bars and is also a certified consultant/trainer, maintaining certifications in PCLaw, Time Matters, Tabs3, Amicus Attorney, Worldox and Symphony. He is also a recognized expert in both law office billing/accounting solutions as well as paperless office adoption, configuration, workflow and functionality. Steve serves as the vice-chair of the 2015 ABA TechShow and frequently speaks on legal technology topics throughout the U.S. and Canada.

In his free time, Steve enjoys composing music, playing tennis, cooking, and spending time with his wife and two children.

Sandy Adams

Sandy Hernandez Adams is the managing partner of our St. Augustine office.

Sandy began providing specialized software and services to law firms in 1982; she grew her business and, in 2005, sold to a local CPA firm based in Miami. She, and the consultants, operated as Onsite Advisors until November, 2009, when they spun off from the CPA Firm to become Strategic Legal Technology Consulting. Although the name changed, Sandra maintained the same provide expert consulting and support services to law firms and legal departments.

Today, as a partner at Affinity Consulting Group, Sandra continues her commitment to customer service and working to provide unique solutions to suit each client's specific needs.

Paul Unger

Paul J. Unger is one of the managing partners of Affinity's Columbus Ohio office. He is a 1994 graduate of Capital University Law School. He is an attorney and founding member of HMU Consulting, Inc. (now Affinity-Columbus). Prior to forming HMU with Barron Henley, Paul was Vice President of a Columbus-based technology consulting firm. He spent five years at Clark, Perdue, Roberts & Scott Co., L.P.A., limiting his practice to civil litigation.

Mr. Unger now specializes in trial presentation & litigation technology consulting, document and case management software, paperless office strategies, and legal-specific software training for law firms and legal departments throughout the Midwest. He has provided trial presentation consultation for 300+ cases.

Mr. Unger is a member of The American Society of Trial Consultants, the American Bar Association, the Ohio and Columbus Bar Associations, and the Ohio Association for Justice and the Central Ohio Association for Justice. He is very active in the Law Practice Management Section of the American Bar Association, and recently served as the Chair of ABA TECHSHOW 2011. He is also an Adjunct Professor for Capital University Law School’s Paralegal Program.

Mr. Unger is a national speaker and frequent lecturer for CLE programs. He is the author of Adobe Acrobat for Law Firms, PowerPoint for Legal Professionals, and co-author of Microsoft Word for Legal Professionals, all manuals designed to maximize the use of legal-specific features.

Britt Lorish

Britt D. Lorish is a partner with Affinity Consulting Group, LLC and founded their Virginia office.

Britt is a graduate of the University of Tampa (B.Sc. Criminology/Pre-Law) and became a litigation paralegal, before migrating into law firm administration. Her intent was to return to law school after gaining practical law firm experience, but her passion turned to legal technology and law firm management. That led her to open her own consulting business in 2000, which later became part of Affinity.

She is an active member of the ABA Law Practice Division and served 4 years on the ABA TECHSHOW Planning Board, including serving as Chair in 2013. She has served on the LTRC (Law Technology Resource Center), and currently serves as the Chair of the Law Firm Finance Committee, in addition to serving on the Publications Board.

Britt is a frequent speaker and writer for the ABA, ALA, ALI, state bars and other private organizations. She is a recognized expert in law office finance, billing, trust accounting, speech solutions and paperless office concepts, as well as full scale technology audits and workflow analysis. She is also certified consultant/trainer, maintaining certifications in such popular law office software products such as Tabs3, PracticeMaster, PCLaw, Worldox, BigHand and Dragon NaturallySpeaking. Britt is a member of the Worldox Inner Circle Committee and has been a Tabs3/PracticeMaster President's Circle member for many years.

In her free time, Britt enjoys cooking, traveling, scuba diving, and spending quality time with her family back in her native Canada.

Debbie Foster

Debbie Foster is the managing partner of Affinity's Tampa Bay office. She founded InTouch Legal (now part of Affinity Consulting) in 1998, seeing a need for a consulting company that focused specifically on lawyers and their technology needs. Since then, Debbie has expanded the services offered by her Tampa based office and has helped hundreds of law firms implement technology, finance, marketing and management solutions.

Debbie has been working with law firms since 1995, personally helping implement solutions ranging from practice management, time/billing/accounting, document management and general law office management issues. In addition to working with law firms throughout the U.S., Caribbean and Canada, she has also trained hundreds of consultants around the country on software programs used in law firms and best practices when consulting on a law firm’s specific technology needs.

Debbie is very active in the Law Practice Management Section of the American Bar Association, and served as the Chair of ABA TECHSHOW in 2010. Debbie is also very active in Local and State Bar Associations, and she regularly speaks on topics relating to technology, management, finance and marketing of a law firm.
