Our Team Is Our Heart

Welcome to Affinity Consulting! We’re proud of the team we’ve cultivated and the work we do! We created this page to give you a little glimpse into who we are and what it’s like to work with us.

Here, Our Core Values Are More Than Just Words

Our values aren’t just slogans on posters. They inform our decisions, shape our culture, and drive our daily actions. Our values create a shared understanding of what’s expected and how we can best support one another every day.

Look no further than our Bonsus.ly app—a fun tool that allows team members to reward other team members with points that can be exchanged for cash and gift cards. Every day, someone gets recognized and “shouted out” for exemplifying our core values. Every quarter, four team members are recognized as our Quarterly Core Value Winners.

At Affinity, We All Share A Commitment To These Core Values:

Be Inclusive

We’re building a collaborative community among our team, our partners, and the clients we support. Our community is open and welcoming to different thoughts, knowledge, identities, backgrounds, status, characteristics, and experiences. We seek repair when we make mistakes. We acknowledge it, apologize, make it right, and commit to learning and improving.

Values In Action: Embracing Diversity

We embrace diversity and invite applications from people of all walks of life. We’re honest and recognize our team isn’t as diverse as it should be. We’re trying to change that.

In 2022, Affinity formed Project Mosaic, our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Task Force focused on creating a place where everyone feels valued and included. Recent initiatives have included:

  • Researching and presenting specific recommendations on how we can improve our recruiting and hiring process to attract more diverse candidates
  • Educating the team on different cultural and religious celebrations each month
  • Sponsoring speakers and workshops on inclusivity

Pride Celebration Event

I don’t have to hide my true self at Affinity. I also appreciate how our leadership team rolls up their sleeves and genuinely engages with DEI efforts and works to build a more inclusive workplace.”

During the hiring process, I informed the interviewer about my disabilities that have made it challenging to navigate the corporate environment, and they were not deterred at all

Act With Integrity

We honor our commitments to the company, our team, and our clients. We do what we say we are going to do when we say we are going to do it. We hold ourselves accountable. We take pride in our work, which is seen in the results we deliver. We are humble, hungry and smart team players who are passionate about the mission and success of Affinity. We communicate with transparency, assume the best in others, stand up for what is right respectfully, and embrace tough conversations.

Values In Action: Managing With EOS

Our leadership team also uses the Entrepreneur Operating System (EOS) as described in the book, Traction, by Gino Wickman, to constantly move our business forward. Our three-year vivid vision paints a clear picture of what we are trying to build for our clients and our team. We then break that vision into one-year goals and then again into quarterly priorities. This process keeps leadership and all our internal teams focused both on their most important work each quarter while ensuring that work is aligned with our bigger vision. We use weekly and monthly key performance indicators (KPIs) to make data-informed decisions along the way. We strive to always improve and believe in relentless incrementalism.

The leadership is very open and transparent with company data and direction

One of the things I truly appreciate about working at ACG is our culture that actively encourages questions. This openness fosters a collaborative environment where everyone feels valued and empowered to contribute. ACG is an inspiring and supportive place to work.

Grab The Marker

We are confident and eager to jump in to improve a process or solve a problem. We help each other get unstuck and we all learn when we brainstorm and think out loud. We love to make a difference, take initiative, do more with less, be resourceful, and we always have each other’s backs.

Values In Action: We’ve Got Your Back

I was diagnosed with cancer in April of 2022 and was worried about the physical, emotional, and financial impact of the disease. I was also concerned about how I would balance my work and my health, as I loved my job and did not want to let my team down.

As soon as I informed the leadership of my situation, I received an outpouring of support and encouragement. I chose to be open with the entire organization and my colleagues checked in on me regularly and sent me cards, flowers, and gifts to cheer me up.

Leadership and HR also worked with me to develop a schedule that allowed me to continue working on projects that I enjoyed and that gave me a sense of purpose and accomplishment.

I was also able to maintain a positive relationship with my team, who were understanding and supportive of my situation. I am happy to report that I have completed the treatment, and that the cancer is in remission. I am grateful to ACG for standing by me during this difficult time and for helping me get back on my feet. I am proud to be part of this amazing organization and I look forward to continuing to contribute to its success

Stay Curious

We show up curious about our work. We use proven systems, but aren’t afraid to think critically, experiment, and push for continuous improvement. We are curious as individuals. We’re on a journey to be the best versions of ourselves personally and professionally. We are curious about our industry. We embrace technology and innovation and apply what we’re learning to guide legal professionals to build healthier businesses.

Values In Action: Lifelong Learning

We believe in lifelong learning.

Of course, we know investing in our people allows us to serve our clients better, but we also just love the idea of helping our team be the best they can be.

We invest in regular team training sessions (we call it The More You Know Series) to ensure our people have the skills and knowledge to succeed. Recent training included:

  • Invest In Your Leaders Training for all members who manage other people
  • Time Management and Productivity Training
  • Understanding Artificial Intelligence
  • DISC Communication Styles

We also encourage team members to focus on specific training and tools that support their professional and personal learning. Every team member receives an annual professional development budget for this purpose. Team members have Stayed Curious by:

  • Taking public speaking training and an improve class to learn on-their feet skills
  • Becoming certified to train on the DISC behavior self-assessment tool
  • Engaged in contextual marketing and StoryBrand classes
  • Completing software specific training and certification

Thanks to my team leader’s suggestion, I’m registered for an HR conference in the fall and had a great discussion with my coach this morning about potential growth paths for me based on my skills. Excited to see what's to come!”

Why Work With Us?

Everyone Gets A Coach

What started as a brainstorm turned into a company-wide transformation. Inspired by an article on replacing “managers” with “professional development coaches,” we embraced the idea wholeheartedly.

Now, every team member works with an internal Professional Development coach on everything from setting and achieving professional goals to improving communication with colleagues and managing tasks more effectively. This shift has not only enhanced individual growth but has also fostered a more collaborative and supportive work environment, driving our collective success.

Affinity Wellness

Our formal wellness initiatives provide opportunities for members to connect for fun, challenge themselves, or learn a new skill.

You might find team members connecting for events or workshops like:

  • Thanking a Caregiver Challenge
  • Succulent Workshop
  • Better Together Virtual Lunches
  • Organize Your Life Tips Session and Challenge
  • Sleep Seminar

I love the caregiver outreach we're doing this month. My friend really appreciated the text I sent to him giving him his flowers for being a single dad, caring for his daughter with diabetes, and taking care of his recently widowed mother. These types of events that Affinity does definitely help me grow as a person.”

Unplugged Time Away

At Affinity Consulting, we recognize the profound impact that rest, rejuvenation, and disconnection from work can have on an individual’s mental, emotional, and physical health. We believe that time away from the workplace is not just a luxury, but a necessity for holistic well-being and sustained productivity.

Because our team members are our most valuable asset, we have crafted a flexible PTO policy that not only respects but celebrates the need for time way. We understand that to bring one’s best self to work, one must also step away, recharge, and return with renewed energy and perspective.

Our Chief Growth Officer gave more perspective in her article, When Turn Off the Power!

Remote First

Remote work is the future. While we still have 2 official offices in Tampa, Florida and Columbus, Ohio, 95% of our team is remote.

We pride ourselves on building an excellent remote-first team. We aren’t trying to retrofit a brick-and-mortar business. Instead, we’re building a remote-first team with effective communication channels and remote-work best practices.

We also value the importance of in-person connections. Every year, we have an opportunity to gather in person either at our all-Affinity retreat (with the entire company) or a team retreat (for specific teams). We use this time to connect and explore ways we can improve our work.

    Managing Through EOS

Our leadership team also uses the Entrepreneur Operating System (EOS) as described in the book, Traction, by Gino Wickman, to constantly move our business forward. Our three-year vivid vision paints a clear picture of what we are trying to build for our clients and our team. We then break that vision into one-year goals and then again into quarterly priorities. This process keeps leadership and all our internal teams focused both on their most important work each quarter.
