You've got your fancy laptop with the fast processor, tons of RAM, a slick touch screen, and all of the peripheral gadgets to go with it. But do you have enough light at your desk? Many of us don't. And the older you get (something I am learning the hard way), the more light you need to read anything on paper, particuarly small print. You need a desk lamp.
Recently the Kinja online news aggregator listed its contributors' five favorite desk lamps. The top choice was the Softech Natural Light Smart LED Desk Lamp with Tilting Head. It isn't cheap at about $170, but this is a purchase you make perhaps once a decade.
At the low end is, what else, Ikea. The Ikea Harte is just $20. It is tiny, portable, and can be powered by your computer's USB port or a regular AC outlet.
Kinja also has a complete guide to buying gear for your office. Some of it is tech-related, such as keyboards and monitors. But it also includes basics such as desks, chairs, floor mats, etc.
